MacBook Air with 4gb ram would be much easier and faster for you, put it in a spec case for protection and you'd have decent mobile power in a lightweight package.

Thanks for the replies guys.
When we think about it, it's only since the last update that ours is having the problems.
I think we're over a barrel realy, now way out of it.
We're on orange who were quite helpful but there's not much they can do do as apple dictate everything.
Oh well.

Have iPhone4 reserved for both my wife and I. We both received an email reminding us of our reservation. Like we were going to forget.

Is the RAM from Apple? I dont know much about RAM but i do know that the wrong type is not good.
Definitely a good second step. Bad RAM will have the same symptoms so if it isn't a single process, then maybe take the extra RAM out if you're confident doing that sort of thing. :)

I have an encrypted root FS DMG for iOS 4.3.2, and I'd like to be able to access some of the images, but they have modified headers. There are a million and one tools out there but none of them seem to work, not fully anyway, I keep getting between a 1/3 and 3/4 of the image, very rarely the whole thing.
Has anyone been able to "normalise" any images from a recent iOS dump?

I have a 2010 Mac Pro 6-Core 3.33Mhz with 12GB ram (3x4GB sticks) and 4x2TB Western Digital Black Caviar internals).
What I purchased this system in 09/2010. After taking out the 2gb of Apple memory and adding in the 12gb from OWC, and adding in my internal hd`s, I was up and ready to go.
I have no issue with the computer - except for one.
The computer powers up an normal speed to the sign in screen, and after inputting password, goes to the desktop. This is where one of two things happens rather frequently.
Half the time, the desktop loads 100% with no issue and when I click on the finder, the new finder window opens, showing me all the drives in my Mac Pro. If I click on one, in order to show me what is inside each drive (the folders and files) - the beachball appears and often times in spins for a minute or two before showing the contents of that drive.
The other half of the time, the desktop loads slowly and then the beachball appears and keeps on spinning and freezes the system and I have to hold the power button to power down the system.
I have a way fast system (on paper). I am not running anything heavier than Photoshop on my computer. I have more than enough memory. And my drives are ALL virtually empty. And this problem is happening upon just starting the computer at the desktop level, so it`s not like I am running 5 programs at the same time or anything taxing to the system.
I have sent the computer out to Apple for a lookover. Just wondering what could be causing this issue. Desktop either loads fine or it doesn`t. And when it doesn`t, the damn beachball.
I notice when I repair the disk permissions, it acts as a bandaid for this problem, but only for the first few start-ups, then back to same issue.
I feel like for what I do with this system, and the guts of my system, it should be lightening fast.
Any thoughts as to what it could be? Just curious as I wait for Apple to tell me the news.

I was sure i read an article posted on this forum, showing someone who did just that. Bought parts off ebay to build a G5 (mainboard, case etc)... or maybe it was to upgrade an original G5 . I remember something about it not working at the correct speed so he had to mess with it..
Anyhow. MacMini... best bet if you are after something simular to a PowerMac (as in no head and no inbuilt screen) or you could look in the refurbished sites - you can actually get Single CPU 1.8 for a quite reasonable price (a lot less than say a dual g5 2ghz).

@herruberraschen - are there any online at a reasonably affordable price? most iPod classic's earlier than the 7th gen are more expensive (at a new price) than the current gen. :-/
If not I may break down and pay the extra amount for the older 5/5.5 model.
Overstock.com has some cheap ones occasionally

I've got this weird thing going on lately. Whenever I download a file, no matter 100mb or 10gb, no matter if the DL is going "full speed" or not (i'm on a 40mb connection). The download speed regularly "peaks" either at my own maximum download speed, or at the sending server's maximum upload speed. It then drops down to less than half of that, and after a while it peaks again, etc.
Basically my problem lately is that, no matter what the download speed I'm getting, it won't stay consistent. And this happens when I have multiple downloads on too.
example: downloading a 4gb game on steam: http://i.imgur.com/u7s5H.png
example: downloading something on uTorrent: http://i.imgur.com/IFTVn.png
So to the main question. Is there some software to improve/bypass this network behavior? Somebody suggested something like CfosSpeed, but that's unfortunately PC-only.. Thanks!

This just seems silly on Apples part.
I'm able to use java 1.4.2 for anything else except browser plug-ins in non-web-kit based browser, why aren't the plug-in stuff updated?

I don't believe it is possible to do that manually. However, the way to do this is basically just to post tech things on that site. After google indexes the words on the page itself it readjusts your ads to be based on what the page is.( takes some time depneding on how frequently u get indexed) So you ad will turn into tech ads if u have tech information on that page.

Hello guys and gals! I have a question. I'm sort of new to aperture 3. Have been using it for about 4 months now and I love it. But here is my question. I have a 2010 macbook pro 13 inch. (Bought it in jan used for $825 and I freakin love it!). But I have put the master raw pictures from my DSLR just anywhere on my cpu. Desktop, different folders etc. So now I only have about 30 GB's of space on my hard drive. So now I have an external hard drive and figured out that I can have the previews on aperture and just hook up the hard drive to the cpu to edit the pictures. This is a good idea going forward but my question is how can i get the pictures that are on my desktop folders to my external hard drive and have aperture be able to see where they are located. Now when i try to move them, I get like an error message in the picture in aperture basically stating that it does not know where the master picture is at. I don't want to just move them and re import them into aperture because i've edited a lot of pictures and do not want to have to re-edit them. Any advice on how to move them and have aperture find where I've moved them too while keeping the edited pictures in aperture? I hope i'm not confusing any of yawl by this long question and i very much appreciate the help!

the only reason looking at 27 was that the price between 21 and 27 is like 150. So for the price difference its worth it
i have thought is going to be too big for browsing etc
so maybe look on apple site for refurb one then, do i get warranty and could i also get apple care with that
