Hi! I think I fixed my problem - I'm using Image Capture as my download SW and was able to "set" which SW launched on attachment of a camera from it's preferences. The problem seems to be with iPhoto... Without it running I can download, eject the device, etc.
Kind of solved this myself ( so proud of me! ) but thanks to anyone who looked at this, thought of something, etc.

Just a thought, but it's possible that the OP types faster than the average user, which could also explain why he's seeing lag that the rest of us don't.

A cropped pic of the St. Louis Science Center Planetarium in its patriotic display of red, white, and blue (I only took a shot of the blue). I see this many times when I drive down hwy 40/64 next to Forest Park. I know there are a couple St. Louis forum members who know what I'm talking about.

I notice that a few here already have received their new refreshed 2011 iMacs.
Can you please give the rest of us an assessment of any screen issues.
eg. yellowing/smudges/dead pixels that plagued some of the 2010 iMacs.
Thanks..

to get a nano? i got a free 4gb silver mini when i bought my powrbook with the student union deal and i love how the silver of the mini and powerbook match but i dont know if i should sell it or not. i love both.
Well....
I'm not sure if anyone will be able to make such a subjective decision for you.
Personally, I don't think the Mini and the PowerBook match well enough to get hung up on.
The Nanos are incredibly sexy, but if you want more than 2/4 gigs with you at a time they're not really an option.
Is it plausible to get the Nano once your rebate check comes?

There's a very interesting write-up about the history of the Apple key here (http://www.roughlydrafted.com/2007/08/11/how-apple-keyboards-lost-a-logo-and-windows-pcs-gained-one/) which explains pretty much everything :)

I would venture a guess to say it's a bad logic board followed by (and possibly including) a hard drive with bad sectors. If you can, run apple hardware tests, tech tool pro or apple service diagnostics on both the logic board and hard drive. Backup your stuff as well!

Hello,
I am running Mac Pro 2009 with latest SL (10.6.7), just added NewerTech MaxPower eSATA 6G card and attached an external drive via it.
It behaves very very strange. Works very fast & normal but hangs for 30-70 secs every minute or so. Example: I am copying 1GB file, it copies fine & fast like 300-400 MB, than simply hangs for a minute or so, than resumes.
This behavior makes it almost impossible to use it, since even Finder is hanging every minute when I am browsing external disk.
It has nothing to do with the disk itself since I've tested it with 2 different disks from different manufactures (different enclosures as well). And by the way both of them are working just fine with FW 800.
I've also found this thread (http://www.macuser.de/forum/f4/macpro2010-problem-esata-551979/) in German talking exactly about the same problem. The user here mentions that it's also not related to eSATA card itself since he has the same behavior with Sonnet card as well. Unfortunately no solution.
Err... I am frustrated and don't really now what to do now :-(
Any advises? Thanks!

My new ibook does that too. You don't have a dvd burner, that's why. It has no need for the blank media so it spits it out.
p.s. my ibook it the last rev, obviously the one in my sig.

What message are you getting when the send fails?
Does your ISP authenticate before it accepts mail at its SMTP gateway? Do you need to set up the outgoing server with your username and password?
Check your ISP's support pages for the settings and try slotting them in.

Safari doesn't close your extra tabs? I find that kind of weird seeing as 2 other people have the same thing happen to them.

Thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately that is not the problem.
I know my entries are correct under the automouter and the permissions are 775. But for some reason the server doesn't let other users access the share.
The NAS holding the shares is attached to the same OD as the as the OS X Server.
I suspect that it is a bug with OS X server, as other machines are able to correctly provide access to the shares.
I've given up on this, I don't believe this is a product Apple really supports anyways.

I've used them, got a 2.93GHz Mac Pro (2009)/4870/6GB RAM/2x Superdrives/Airport/1TB HDD for 2100.00 all factory refurbed and warranted with apple care I got for like 150.00 from somewhere else. Apple wants 2799.00 for the same refurbed unit.

I think that's why it's not user accessible?
The old one was much better in this regards. The new one is basically a laptop on a stand now. The old one was at least fairly serviceable.
Three screws and it was open - I'm guessing that is no longer the case.

I thought the max ram we can have in our powerbook (aluminum family) is 1.25GB of RAM...how is this site selling one for 2GB? Do you think it is extremely faster than my 1.25GB RAM?The 12" PowerBook is limited to 1.25GB.
The 15" AlBook and the 17" both support up to 2 GB of memory.

Hello everyone!
I got my iPod touch yesterday (my first Apple product!) with the fimware 4.2.1 and jailbroke it with Greenposion 6.1.
I've read that it's necessary to change the root password after jailbreaking, I was wondering if it's necessary to do that when using Greenpoison? Should I still change it via MobileTerminal?
Thanks in advance.

I've got a whole bunch of Apple t-shirts (some worn, some not) and other bits from when I was part of the MSC programme, which pre-dates the Applestores in the UK.
Just wondered if there was anywhere that specialises in buying such things. I would rather sell them on then put them in the bin. Not sure if your allowed to sell stuff on this forum.
Thanks in advance!
