Apple is one greedy corporation that just loves to attack.. typical of the coming corporate takeover of humanity.
How is this an attack? Apple can't make enough devices to match demand, while RIM will have a hard time selling the few units they do make. If RIM had people lining up every morning to get an rPad, they would have an issue.

btw, my first post too, been using the forum for buing advice for about a year, as long as I've had a mac. Now sold my iBook and awaiting MEROM MBPs

I decided to give it a try and all it ever finds are little things that only can affect Windows :rolleyes:
Would you be happier if Sophos or any other OSX AV solution found lots of Viruses on your system ? - It is not about clearing your system of OSX malware, at the time of writing this there is little to zero by way of Viruses etc out there for OSX. - As the platform gains more and more market share, this is likely to change. Better to be as prepared as possible. After all you don't go out on a Saturday night, meet a girl, take her home, put on a condom to stop you getting a Virus you already have, it is there as a prophylactic, to PREVENT you getting a Virus or other nasty ailment.
As for the "Only" little things that it finds being Windows based Malware, if you use a machine on a professional basis, with both Windows and OSX machines, it makes sense to use AV to stop you inadvertently passing on nasty things to your Windows based Colleagues, where you don't even know you are doing it.

The problem with the cloud based approach is the current limits on data usage. If your not on wifi I can see a good amount of folks going through 2GB of data quick.

I'm waiting for a hardware refresh that upgrades the display on the 13" MBPs, the current resolution is just too huge for such a small display :'(

If the one you have does what you need it to - why do you care? If your self-worth is tied up in having the latest computer, you just need therapy. Agreed. I moved from my good ol' 3Gs to a ZTE-Blade a few months ago and have to say that despite the general black/grey colors that android apps seem to be forced to use with the UI, the 'desktop' of the phone is much more elegant and usable than the iPhone's. I'd really like to see Apple open up the API's a little more and maybe even allow us to completely swap out their homescreen for custom app based ones. It works well on the droids.
And then we'd lose much more battery life :rolleyes:. Don't see why people want more control over pointless things and want more complexity/layers. That's why iOS currently works efficiently as it is. It'll likely won't ever happen because it's the Apple way.
I'm sure we'll see iOS5 push things way beyond customisable homescreens. Better notification, fresh UI and some new touch-based features will keep the iPhone ahead of the rest IMO.

And just how could Apple be found to be absuing its position by buying what it needs to supply its customers whith product? Maybe if the iPad wasn't selling all that well but Apple can't keep up with demand as it is. It's clearly a "form over function" fail as the words are hard to read in the buttons. At least on the iPad, they had the decency to provide some contrast by making the letters white. It's horrible looking!
Then again, it's a developer preview. But I realllly hope stuff like that doesn't stick around. It's like the translucent menu bar introduced in 10.5 which everyone complained about that didn't get fixed until 10.5.2.

One thing I think the kit can improve on is the voice volume of a call conversation. It could be a bit louder.
Yeah, I felt that too, but it was passable in most situations except for on the freeways. Well, I ordered a Magellan car kit so we'll see what that brings. I am looking forward to just being able to pop the phone into the cradle, case and all.

All this talk about income taxes is all the MORE reason why we need unprecedented tax reform here in the USA.
In my humble opinion, we should right now go to a flat income tax using the Steve Forbes flat tax plan, and start a process that four years from now ends all income taxation in favor of a consumption tax on new-production goods and services (the FairTax proposal, H.R. 25/S. 13). I cite the following advantages of this change:
Flat taxes are always very regressive, basically the reason why this is a bad idea, is that the people it effects are mostly the ones who can't afford it. and the rich will just sit on their money and not spend a lot and not benefit the economy.
And for the poorer people it would create more reliance on social security and medicare, because now what little money they used to have to save has been taken in the massive tax hike they would just get.
I'm not saying that we don't need reform of our tax system, but a flat tax isn't the way to do it.

I am typing this away on my new Macbook, Core 1 Duo; which i bought under the self-brainwashed reasoning that the MBP alone would see 2x2. Why you ask? Cuz I figured hey, the MB JUST came out, why refresh it every 2 months! The MBP has been out like 8 months, that makes sense.
I can only PRAY I am right.
No that my Macbook will be instant crap... I just COULD have waited until september.

Dont worry. I m still pretty sure that you wont get meroms in MB before this november. All we might see is a little price drop for the current Yonah MBs.
At best, there might be a Merom BlackBook available with Merom MBP. Thereby making a fool of everyone who`s bought a BlackBook for 150$ premium:p . Huh,,, I`d love to see a 1599$ Merom BlackBook with backlit keyboard this monday. Thank God I got the white book instead.:)
