Wow. That must've wasted a ton of your time.
I don't believe this rumour to be honest, but it's fun to spectulate.
For goodness sakes, the delivery date aside, Apple has already virtually confirmed that an Apple phone is on the way.

Time to rename a Quarter Pounder into a "Royale with cheese"! :D
They do actually call them Quarter Pounder's in Australia. And they insist on calling the chips 'fries' too!
Come to think of it… isn't it a bit odd that Americans attribute 'fries' to the French, but refuse to adopt their metric system? Go figure.

Simple...it's NOT gonna happen anytime soon.
The Tablet market is a sad failure, as it represents a tech in search of a purpose...nobody needs or wants it.
Hint? Think Origami, one among too many MS failures...just like the Zune in the next months.
Apple will NOT enter the fabled Tablet market again, as the focus of demand is on notebooks, nothing else...yet another borndead rumor.
Lol. I totally forgot about the origami. What a flop!

Okay, nice, guys. This is MacRumors, not AmazonRumors. Who gives a crap about Amazon? Move along now.

Not sure what everybody is so worried about, I'm sure the phone needs to track some kind of historical information to give an accurate position. As long as accurate positioning information is not sent to Apple, is there really a problem?

But then it wouldn't be a Mac Mini, now would it?
(My first MR post. Ever.)
It still would mini be if you were a giant. It all depends on your perspective.

As other posters have said...they practically announced it during the last financial anaylyst conference call.
There will be a phone released. No question about that.
The questions are:
- when?
- features?
- will apple do it themselves or seek joint partners?

Does this mean merom machines will return to the original pricing the yonah machines debuted with or will the pricing pick up from where it is now?

I'd watch that last sentence... Airport was NOT an option you could add on LATER with the PowerMac G5's. Are you sure about that statement?Yes it was and still is. I'm 100% Certain. You can put it in in about 2 minutes. Nothing to it. :) You're probably thinking of Bluetooth which is not user installable which is why I recommend it since it's only $29 extra. Will be a resale feature.

Queue the hitler response.....
And when Hitler's constituents thought he was wrong, he decided to annihilate those who didn't want to see things his way too. Destroying opposition rather than improving one's self is way's a "#WINNING" thing to do.
Wow, I gotta get some credit for that one... Charlie Sheen, Apple, and Hitler all in one sentence!
Hitler? What the heck. This is one company exercising their right to control its product. How you got to Hitler is beyond bizzare. This is just an electronic device
"Hey I can't Jailbreak my phone! Darn Apple is like Genghis Khan!"

All this hype can make anyone get upset and want to bash things. But its not worth it. Just keep your shirt on and be patient! I've been stuck with my iPhone 3G. I was gonna upgrade to the iPhone 4 last summer but lost my job and had to wait. I got married and had to jump on my wife's Verizon plan to save money. When the iPhone 4 came to Verizon I was so excited I was gonna do what I could to get it, but still had to wait. Yeah, I got caught up in the hype, but after calming down and thinking WISELY, waiting just a bit longer is not gonna hurt anything. In fact I really want a White iPhone 4, and Im glad I didn't waste money on a black iPhone just because its there.
In the mean time, paying attention to the rumors is good. Seeing some of the odd stuff posted in the forums by members is comical at times. But if we all just chill out and check the main page every few days we will see more stuff leaked.
Just remember, there are people out there that just might leave there iPhone 5 test mule sitting on a bar stool for someone else to find and post about it on the internet....

I wonder which genius at Amazon thought it was a good idea to make their cloud service work in the US only.
If you don't have a US based IP address you are locked out of the system. Can't even sign up and see what it looks like. Also you can't purchase either mp3's or video from Amazon if you originate from a non-US IP address. Even if you have proper payment/billing information in the US.
IMO their informational video is outright lying when they say you can access your files anytime and anywhere.
Apparently in Amazonland anywhere = The US and ONLY the US.
So if you get this setup in the US and travel to a foreign country your amazing, anywhere & anytime "cloud" storage magically goes away.
Looks like Apple will have to step in and show these morons how it's done yet again.

My 2-year contract finishes next month and my 3G is almost inoperative. No way I want to buy into the antenna problems with a 4. Glad you're happy though.
You can always pick up a used 4 to hold you over.
And the 'antenna problems' were a media and hater frenzy, nothing more.
Personally, I'm glad that I won't have to churn on upgrading for a few months more. Fact is that my 4 does everything I need short of NFR, and I don't really NEED that.
As a user, I'd be glad to use my 4 for another year.
As an AAPL holder, I'd like to see a 5 come out simply to kick the Verizon sales in the butt.

Yet you haven't convinced many here. Doesn't that indicate that perhaps you need to address it again, and perhaps find other ways to illustrate your point? It's not like I'm unwilling to be convinced. I just haven't heard a good reason to accept your argument.
Well, if you guys agreed with me then I would have to rethink my position. :D
It's kind of a prerequisite for a collapse that 99% of the population is unprepared.

What if free Antivirus software is designed to help identify security holes, and the best way to infect Mac's wide-scale? I've always thought virii has to be engineered under contract by companies making the "solutions" to them, there are far too many virii out there on a daily basis, to such an extent that it has to be developed on a full-time basis with some corporate involvement somewhere. There are a lot more things to do for kicks these days, other than write malware, you'd think people have better things to do, unless there is money in making them..=]
edit: Is there an infrastructure in place, to investigate whether or not anti-virus companies are involved in any way shape or form, with the development of malware? if not, then who keeps these companies in check to insure they aren't in any way involved with malware creation, to support their own industry? Sorry but any company that feeds fear and paranoia to sell or distribute their wares, needs to brought under check somehow.

If they do a revision, then its safe to say we won't see another update till santa rosa chipsets ship next spring alongside leopard. Which means "next month" is a good time to buy a MBP at least for a while.
This also suggest new ipods this fall (for christmas), conroe iMacs at the paris expo, iPhone as well as iLife/iWork updates and maybe Leopard shipping at MWSF....we all know steve likes beating deadlines meaning Leopard would definately ship before spring, unless he really wants vista out first before showing his cards to avoid photocopying.

Maybe not at WWDC, but I don't see them waiting till Fall to put out new iPhone hardware, hold iOS5 till then, maybe, but not new hardware.
They risk losing people to Android, WebOS, etc... as the remaining iPhone3GS people all start coming off of contract, and nobody will go iPhone4 knowing 5 is just months away.
This waiting around also gives 3GS users a few months to check out other products (new Pre w/WebOS, etc). Apple does not want people looking around during that break time.
depends how many people are eligible to upgrade
last year AT&T opened the floodgates on early upgrades and locked a lot of people in who wouldn't have been eligible until later in the year
apple knows how many people are eligible so it doesn't make sense to release a phone with a smaller eligible customer base. i bet apple and AT&T will work out another financial arrangement to allow early upgrades starting in september or so

So I just bought a new 4 core Sandy Bridge iMac tonight and now this news breaks. Is ARM actually building anything in any way shape or form that competes with the Intel X86 stuff right now or is this just vaporware at this point?
Rumors and Vapor...and for laptops/mobile devices...
...and 2-3 years before it's even rumored to hit.

You may be right about the 160 GB HDD option and the X1800.
There is no way the MBP's will recieve resolution upgrades before Leopard. Santa Rosa MBP's will definiantly be bumped to 1680x1050 and 1920x1200. Tiger is resolution dependent, which means that a higher DPI would make it nearly impossible to see anything.Tiger also has a lot of controls to increase system level font sizes plus ZOOM so I don't think going higher res would be a problem with Tiger.
But please tell us more of what you know about resolution independence with Leopard and what new display technologies coming next year?At last, why 26th-30th? Why would Apple have a large event where it would be appropriate to release MBP's, and then instead announce 1-4 days after? I believe it might be a few days prior to Photokina, as the iMac was before the Paris Expo.;)Agreed.

You're wrong. The promotion is for ANY mac before September 16, as Nuks said. They can't (and won't) change the terms of the promotion before it expires.
My thoughts exactly. The offer is valid for ANY Mac. They loose pratically no money on the Nano if the person buys on the iTunes store.
I'm planning to order a MBP and a nano right after Paris. If MBPs come out before Paris, I'm still going to wait to see if they revise the nano...that would make up for the 3 months of waiting to get the MBP.
I am ordering MBP as soon as they are updated OR Sept. 12th after Keynote which ever is first. I don't really care about the updated Nano, I am giving it away as a gift.

Except that Apple has typically released only the 15 inch model before later introducing the 17 (and 12 when they existed) when they do major updates. Witness the introduction of the Al case and the Intel switch. Of course it matters whether this is a major update. If, like the iMacs, there is not a major case redesign and it is just a processor bump then expect them to be released simultaneously. But if there is a change in case, I would be surprised (pleasantly though) if the 17 came out at the same time. You need to brush up on your Mac history.
Original Aluminum PowerBook G4 was only 17" for 8 long months (http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook_g4/stats/powerbook_g4_1.0_17.html) introduced January 7, 2003 at MacWorld Expo SF by Steve Jobs. It ran at 1GHz and had two USB 1.1 ports. :p
The first 15" PM G4 in an Aluminum case running @ 1GHz & 1.25GHz (http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook_g4/stats/powerbook_g4_1.25_15.html) with two USB 2 ports didn't appear until Paris Apple Expo September 16 also introduced by Steve Jobs in his Paris keynote that morning. At that same time the 17" lost the USB 1.1 ports and went USB 2 also as well as to a top speed of 1.33GHz (http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook_g4/stats/powerbook_g4_1.33_17.html). Only 3 short years ago today. ;)
So there is no predictable introduction order. But this time it MUST be the whole line because of the C2D leap. ;)
